Processed Foods Cause Obesity and Cancer in Humans - Human Deaths From Cancer are on the Rise Since 1950 - Cats and Dogs Now Eat Processed Foods - Cats and Dogs Now Get Cancer….. Any Questions?

The other day a good friend told me about another acquaintance whose daughter had just passed away last Tuesday from a ten-month battle with cancer. Poor little girl. She was only eight-years-old... I have experience with dealing with childhood cancer so I can understand somewhat their suffering. May god rest her soul and comfort the parents.

......

This morning I went to the grocery store. I walked by the racks that have the processed poisons (er, I mean processed foods). I never buy that stuff. We picked up our veggies and fruits and then went to the check out counter. There, I noticed that, "Gee! The shelves where the processed human foods are sure do look a lot like the shelves where the processed cat and dog foods are. In fact, they look exactly alike!"

If you don't pay attention closely, you might be eating your cat's dinner... It might even be healthier!

The increase in cancer deaths (even with the massive decrease in smoking cigarettes) can be attributed to many things. Some things may be difficult for us to control like the air we breathe or the location of factories from our homes.

It is easy, though, to control what we put into our bodies.

Human food. We know this isn't healthy.

It is common knowledge that processed foods cause obesity and cancer in humans (as well as many other maladies)

Seriously. It's in a can or packaged at a factory, is there any question that it has all sorts of chemical goodies in it?

The diet of people in the west (Japan too) have continually been on a course of more convenience. This makes a situation whereby the consumption of processed foods increase as the years go by.

It isn't a coincidence that as more and more people eat processed foods that more and more people get cancer. Recently, more and more cats and dogs are getting various sicknesses and diseases like cancer

More and more people feed their animals processed foods that are causing these illnesses. I think there is a pretty easy to figure causative correlation going on here, don't you think?

Question 1: Do you think the chemicals in processed foods are safe? Do you think that chemicals can cause diseases like cancer? If so, don't you think it is a good idea to eliminate these chemicals in your diet or at least cut them down greatly wherever you can?

Question 2: Do you think you should you be feeding yourself or your child processed foods?

My son's typical breakfast: Raw veggies and fruits: carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, cashew nuts, tomatoes, orange slices, melon slices (and two boiled broccoli). Add to this homemade raw veggie & fruit juice and 1/2 slice bread and one small sausage. Glass of bottled water. We never give him processed foods for any meal! My breakfast is all these fruits and veggies blended into juice!

Get healthy and protect your health now because the government is going bankrupt and they aren't going to be able to pay for your medical bills one day in the very near future; whether that is Japan, the United States or any of the  European nations with their massive debts. Who is going to pay for your medical bills when the government can't? Hint: Look in the mirror (it's you!)

Getting rid of all the processed foods and poisons we eat and drink is not a 100% sure-fire way to prevent cancer and diseases, but it is a pretty strong shield. And, I mean, in this day and age, why not make the best effort to cut down these poisons coming into our body? In many ways, we cannot control pollutants in the environment and where we live, but we can make a better effort to protect our bodies and our children.

It's a pretty simple equation, I think. You can do your best to eat right now or pay the price later. Your choice.

Note: My dear friend, Timo Budo wrote, "Hey buddy, I read yer rant about processed franken-food. In my case you're preachin' to the friggin' choir. You seen the flick "Forks Over Knives" ?" Here's the trailer:

Japan Goes Totally to the Dogs

I love dogs as much as the next guy, but when dogs are pampered and treated better than humans are treated, that's where I draw the line. I hate dogs who live in better luxury than I do! After reading this article, you'll agree; some dogs in Japan surely have it made!

MONKEES - I'M GONNA BUY ME A DOG
"Oh sure!" you are thinking. "Mike just says he loves dogs, but secretly inside, he hates them." Not true! I love dogs. I just hate dogs who think they are human - No! Better than human - because their owners treat them better than the middle class gets treated in 3/4's of the world.

I mean, these dogs in Japan, as well as their crazy owners, are just plain, well... crazy!

I've told you before how Japan has wigs for dogs

Of course, you've seen dogs running around wearing dog clothes and sweaters. But did you know that, in Japan, you can buy famous maker brand dog clothes and accessories? Yes it's true. They even come in "Matching Star-Line Parkas" and "Matching Sports Jerseys"!

Let's face it folks. Whatever would fluffy do if she were seen by the other neighborhood high-society upper crust canines with just a cheap no-brand not-famous maker T-shirt on?

How in the world could she ever take a dump in public again? I know I couldn't. Shudder the thought.

Of course, not only do the Japanese love these stupid dogs so much that they pamper the hell out of them, some pet shops allow people to rent out dogs by the hour so that they can take them out on a walk! Seriously. The dogs rent for ¥1,500 yen an hour (about $18.22 USD)  so that you can take them for a walk!

Two Japanese dogs heading to school in the new
school uniform fashions 2011.

Some dogs in Japan even have their own exclusive clubs! Like the Miniature Schnauzer's Club. Mutts and half-breeds need not apply!

After reading this, it will come as no surprise to dear reader that, of course, there are restaurants in Japan that cater to people who wish to bring their dog along. The menu even has items for lowly Homo Sapien as well as your favorite canine super-dog.

Guffaw now, but it gets worse, much worse.

Yesterday my son asked that I take him to a huge pet store that is about 20 minutes by car from our house. He wanted to see the birds, fish and mice.

The shop is called Pet Forest and it is supposed to be one of the biggest pet stores in the entire area. Around my house, the pet stores are really small and the selection poor. Pet Forest is a chain pet store. They have shops all around Japan. Pet Forest is supposed to have everything.

It does and more.... Much more. So much more that it could be pet heaven... But I suppose heaven is not a good name for a store that is supposed to be selling the animals, not burying them.

Pet Forest has a massive collection of
fresh-water and salt-water fish

Pet Forest has so much more stuff that I just couldn't believe it. You won't believe it either. That's why I had to take photos as evidence that it is not I who has completely lost their mind, but they - the dog owners who need to be instituted into the looney hospital.

I knew dogs were pampered in this country, but what I saw yesterday takes the cake.... Literally.

You won't believe what these cakes and
delicious-looking foods really are.... Read on!

Are you sitting down? OK. Take a deep breath... Here goes... Pet Forest has gourmet food and desserts for dogs. And these are not canned dog I am not making this up. Hamburger plates for dogs! Rolled Cabbage & gravy!

Heck, I didn't eat this good when I was a university student!

I asked the lady at the counter is, for real, these dishes were just for dogs, and she confirmed my worst fears. Yes. They are just for dogs but edible for humans too. They even have birthday cakes for the dog. They look like sweets but are actually made from ingredients that are healthy for dogs and flavored like cheese cakes, etc. You can't make this stuff up.

Happy Birthday to Poochie! Happy
birthday to Poochie! Happy birthday to you!
(This cake costs $32.55! For a dog!?)

Who would waste good money for food like this on feeding some dumb human? I never would. Well, I've never heard such nonsense! Jeeves! Bring the car to the front. Fluffy would like to take a drive in the Rolls!

Anyhow, as a final word, you can't blame Pet Forest for this situation. They are just trying to make a business and giving the customer what they want. And, judging from the size of their stores and with how crowded this place was, I'd say they are doing a good business.

Yes. Pet Forest had $10,000 birds too.

As far as Pet Forest goes, the prices were much cheaper than the dinky Tokyo stores and the selection was impressive. Pet Forest gets a five paws up, I reckon.

It's definitely a dog's life in Japan!

So, I guess I can take this chance to finish with the article by saying, once again, it definitely is a dog's life in Japan as dog's are treated better here than most humans... Dog wigs, dog sports fashions, doggie diners, and doggie clubs... Throw on top of that gourmet food for dogs and all I can say is... "Bone"-apetite!

In Japan, It IS a Dog's Life!

Well, the silly blog about the wigs for dogs was pretty popular yesterday. I guess thee's lots of dog fans all over the world.

OK. Here's another one for you dog lovers. A dog who really does love baths.

From Topless Robot:

I'm not gonna lie. This seriously makes up for a lot, Japan. Go ahead, make some crazy panty-sniffing robot or something. You've earned it after producing this adorableness.

bathtub dog

It is pretty amazing that this dog will sit there in the bath like a human.... See? It is a dog's life in Japan! He doesn't even know he's a dog!

Japan Has Wigs for Dogs!

My good friend at Japan Trends, Michael Keferl, turns me onto one of his bizarre discoveries: Wigs for dogs being sold in a vending machine in Ginza. You can't make this stuff up.

Japan Trends reports:

We were out on a Tokyo Trend Tour with a client this week, and came across this capsule vending machine in Ginza (gashapon) that dispenses wigs…for dogs.

Yes. Japan is dog crazy. See more at Japan Trends.

In Japan, a Dog's Life is Heaven - and the Wine Flows Freely!

Japanese people loves pets, especially dogs. While it is somewhat rare to see a person walking a large dog, like a St. Bernard, it is extremely common to see a housewife walking their minuscule tiny breeds that are everywhere in Japan.

Tokyo, especially, must be the tiny dog capital of the world. In my neighborhood alone I'd say that about 30% ~ 40% of the families have a small dog. Trust folks, when I say, "Small dog" I do mean a very small dog. Many of these dog breeds are smaller than cats.

Tiny Chihuahuas that look like mice (with brains no larger than a peanut) are quite common. People treat these dogs better than their own children. I've never seen such pampered pooches in my entire life! The Japanese go crazy over these dogs and their spending shows it.

The Japan Times Reports:
The average amount spent annually on pet-related expenses by households with at least two members rose 4.6 percent in 2009 from the previous year to ¥18,323, the highest figure since comparable data become available in 1990, according to a recent government survey. While family spending as a whole is on the decrease, there are no signs of recession in the pet industry, as high-priced pet food and stylish clothing are selling well, pet cosmetics, insurance and various other services are now available and medical costs for pets are rising as they live longer, according to the survey.

The article goes on to break down the money spent:

Since 2005, expenses have been growing for five consecutive years.

By generation, people in their 50s spent the most on their pets, at ¥28,951 (about $347 USD annually at 81 yen to the US dollar) on average in the reporting year, which was about 4.7 times the average of people under 30, showing that the middle-aged and above were the main group supporting the market, having finished raising children.

On the other hand, data on single-person households showed that women aged 35 to 59 spent the most on their pets, at ¥20,752 (about $249 USD annually at 81 yen to the US dollar)

The other thing that is common is that these owners (the dog's "moms") treat the dogs like babies. Many people put their dogs in sweaters and sports clothing when taking them out for a walk. Many ladies do not walk their dogs but put them in baby carriages and push the dogs around like they would a 2-year-old.

These dogs have a newer - and cooler - wardrobe than I do

You might think I am joking, but if you've ever been in Tokyo, you know I do not exaggerate about this.

Some of the ladies in my neighborhood will hug their dogs in their arms as they stand and chat for hours on end on the street corners... Sometimes there will be four or five of them all at once yapping away... The wives, I mean, not the dogs.

I think these dogs don't know that they are dogs. They think they are human.

I usually don't really care about dogs too much but just yesterday, I heard something related to dogs that just made me laugh and made me wonder, "Why didn't I think of that first?"

Recently, I have been working with a very popular online wine service in Japan called iwine.jp. iwine.jp is Japan's online wine superstore. You can order wine online and have it delivered anywhere in Japan. It is very simple to use.

Well, what does that have to do with dogs? Bear with me for a second. This gets funny.

Recently, iwine.jp made a deal with the #1 most popular and widely read women's magazine in Japan, "Josei Jishin." Josei Jishin is a gossip magazine for housewives. It is the oldest women's magazine in Japan and is read by over 1.5 million Japanese ladies a week! It is one of those magazines that you see at every beauty salon, nail salon, doctor's office waiting room, well, you get the picture.

There is not a girl in Japan over 18 who doesn't know Josei Jishin. Of course, there isn't a woman dog owner in this country who doesn't know that magazine too!

Josei Jishin

Anyway, Josei Jishin and iwine.jp have started a wine club together and it includes a fortune telling service. Besides dogs, the women in this country LOVE fortune telling. At the fortune telling part, women will be able to enter their birth date, etc., and get their fortune told by a very famous fortune teller and be recommended different wines to drink if they want, say, romance, beauty, luck, success.

This sounds like a lot of fun and I hear it is the first time in Japan that this sort of thing will be launched.

What does this have to do with dogs? Well, besides wines for luck, fortune and love, women will also be able to find...are you ready for it?... Wines to drink with their dogs! I kid you not.

Laugh now, my friends, but I think Josei Jishin and iwine.jp have a wild but winning combination here...

And, when you realize that the pet industry in Japan is a $14.4 billion dollar industry  you realize that people like iwine.jp and Josei Jishin know what women like.

I'll report more on this as this "pet" project gets going....

But, I must admit, I just can't imagine giving my pooch a $150 dollar a bottle Dom Perignon, but, I wouldn't put it past the lady next door.

See iwine.jp website here.
